Who we are

Your billboard was built to be seen

Every billboard carries a promise to an advertiser: the people on this road will see your message. When trees and brush grow up in front of the face, that promise slips away a little more each season. US Vegetation is here to keep it.

We treat every site as if the billboard were our own. We plan the cut with you around what you need and what the permit allows, leave the site clean, and send you photographs of the finished work. You can tell your advertiser with confidence that their message is being seen.

Our team brings together experience from the outdoor advertising industry, commercial landscaping and tree work. We know these sites, we know the people who manage them, and we know what an open view means to your business. That understanding goes into every job we take on.

Layout of a typical billboard clearing site A road runs across the bottom. A V-build billboard sits back from the road, with two faces on one pole, each angled toward oncoming traffic. The clearing zone runs 20 feet behind the faces and angles from the outside edge of each face to the 500-foot mark along the road. A typical V-build: two faces on one pole, each angled toward its oncoming traffic. The cut runs 20 feet behind the faces and angles from the outside edge of each face to the 500-foot mark, covering the DOT side and the private side. About 1,000 feet end to end. In Approach you can draw it on an aerial photo instead of flagging it in the field. Not to scale.

Core service

Billboard view clearing

We remove the trees, brush and undergrowth in a sign's approach so drivers can read it at highway speed. The cut follows the area you mark and the limits of your permit.

  • Site planned with you before any crew mobilizes
  • Work on both the DOT right-of-way and the private side
  • Before and after photographs, dated and located
  • One price per billboard, approved once
Keep it open

Site maintenance

After the first clear, we can return on a schedule to keep regrowth down, so the view you paid to open stays open. Ask us for a maintenance plan for your billboards.

Licensed

Herbicide programs

Right-of-way spraying to slow regrowth between cuts, applied under our certified applicator licenses in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia.

Priority cuts

A new contract posting, or a view lost to a season of growth. Tell us the deadline and we will tell you plainly whether we can meet it.

Planning

Aerial site surveys

Drone photography of sites that are hard to reach on foot, for planning the cut and for your records.

Permits and mitigation stay with the sign owner. In most states the vegetation permit is issued to the billboard owner. We work to the permit you provide, keep inside its limits, and can track its status in Approach so scheduling starts the day it is issued.

Quality, for us, means you approve the work once and do not think about it again until you want the next billboard cleared.

One team handles your quote, scheduling, crews and paperwork. You never chase a subcontractor.

    Proof without a site visit

Dated, located photographs and a report for every billboard, kept in Approach for as long as you need them.

    Verified crews

Field work is done by subcontractors we vet before they are assigned a billboard, managed by our team and held to the same standard on every site.

      Resource

      Billboard vegetation rules by state

Each state controls cutting on highway right-of-way in front of outdoor advertising differently. Here is a plain-English starting point for the states we work in and the states we are expanding into.

These summaries are general information for billboard owners, not legal advice. Rules and fees change. Confirm current requirements with the state DOT before any work on the right-of-way. Summaries reviewed October 2026.

      Questions

      Common questions

      What does US Vegetation do?

US Vegetation clears trees, brush and undergrowth that block the view of billboards. We work for outdoor advertising companies, planning each site with the sign owner, cutting to the approved area and permit limits, and documenting every billboard with before and after photographs.

      Do you handle DOT permits?

No. In most states the vegetation permit is issued to the sign owner, who also handles any mitigation the state requires. We work to the permit you provide and can track its status in Approach so the cut is scheduled as soon as it is issued.

      Which states do you cover?

We work in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida today. We are recruiting certified subcontractors in Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Arkansas to serve clients there next. If you have billboards elsewhere, ask us.

How do I show you what to cut?

Mark the area on an aerial photo in Approach, send us your cut list, or flag it in the field. The cut usually angles from the outside edge of each face out to the 500-foot mark, and runs 20 feet behind the faces.

      Do you offer ongoing maintenance?

Yes. After the initial clear we can return on a schedule, with cutting or licensed herbicide treatment, to keep regrowth down. Ask us for a maintenance plan for your billboards.

How do I become a US Vegetation subcontractor?

Fill out the subcontractor application on this page. Our team reviews every application, and approved companies receive our onboarding packet and a crew login to Approach.
